Do you find yoga to be intimidating? Do you think yoga poses you’ve seen online or on TV are too advanced or too complex for you to attempt to do? What I like to tell people is that yoga IS for everyone. Just because you see a particular pose (also known as “asana”) expressed in one way doesn’t mean you cannot do it too!

You’re probably saying, “Aisha, my body doesn’t bend like that.” Well, I’m here to tell you that many poses have modifications to help you take smaller steps to get the stretch you want or the strength you need.
Everyone has different reasons why we are interested in practicing Yoga. Once you determine your goal, that will help to define your path. Yoga has many poses designed for every body type, fitness level, and personal goal.
Goals vary by person and can range from improving your balance & flexibility to finding a more effective way to relax through motion. Whether you are looking to express a dancer’s pose with one foot above your head, balance on one leg with your foot below your waist (tree pose), or stretch your quad muscles, all these goals are important because they are YOURS!

We each have strength and flexibility in our bodies, and yoga helps us balance and build upon both. Everyone has a varied combination of each. The most important thing is that you’re open to listening to what your body needs and aligning it to meet your goals.
